Sometimes it’s the little things.  It’s not that I didn’t immensely enjoy (nearly) every moment of planning my wedding, but there was something extra special about choosing our wedding favors.

With thousands of party favors available it may be difficult to decide what type will be the biggest hit at your wedding.  So, when in doubt about which favors to give, remember that edible wedding favors are popular (most everyone likes treats, so you won’t be stuck with a lot of leftovers), pretty and/or fun, can be personalized (theme, color or monogram) and are typically less expensive than other types of favors.

Before purchasing edible wedding favors keep these “do’s and do nots” from BRIDES magazine in mind:  Do buy samples before committing.  Do allow enough time for delivery and DIY packaging.  Don’t buy too few.  Generally, favors are for each guest, not each couple.  Don’t order too far in advance or your treats may be stale on the big day.

Pearls are a popular choice for wedding day bridal jewelry, but for some brides, pearls are  a large part of their wedding day theme.  Decorative pearls on wedding accessories such as the ring bearer’s pillow, flower girl basket, even the couples unity candle display.

The wedding reception is a special occasion for bride, groom, and all their family and friends to break free from the ceremonies and have some fun.  When planning a wedding reception, you should strive for your guests to have an unscripted and enjoyable time; after all, there should be some reward for sitting through a long ceremony!  First and foremost, you will want to plan for some live music, or at least a DJ.  Having unique wedding favors on the tables will keep your guests entertained as the food is being prepared. For the menu, have at least two choices, and a vegetarian option. Though traditional weddings favor foods like baked salmon or roasted chicken, there’s nothing wrong with barbequed steak and pizza either. Also remember to not forget the cake!

The wedding reception often is the most expensive part of a wedding, but if everything goes according to plan, should be a fun and memorable experience for more than just the bride and groom.
