Red roses, live birds and nature were the setting for this fairy tale wedding theme.  The bride didn’t choose a particular fairy tale story for her theme.  Instead she included wedding accessories that pronounced “Happily Ever After” and went with an abundant amount of red and white roses, animal “friends” and lots of whimsy and character.

My favorite part about this fairy tale wedding theme was that she allowed her three flower girls to each choose their favorite fairy tale princess to dress up as.  Snow White, Belle and Cinderella were all at this Bride’s event!

The princess kissing the frog  who magically turns into a prince and carries her off to his castle is as classic a fairy tale as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty or Snow White.  A fairy tale theme is perhaps the most romantic wedding idea a couple with “true love” can have.  (Although it may not be classified as a traditional fairy tale, The Princess Brideis one of my favorite movies!)  Most couples who choose to have a fairy tale theme wedding base it around one story such as Cinderella or even Shrek.

One of the many favorite fairy tale wedding ideas is to have a fairy tale collection theme wedding. From Cinderella to the frog prince – they’re all invited! One princess bride had the cake designed as an open storybook.   Her decorations were simple and natural.  The flower girls looked more like fairies. A sort of meeting in the forest type event.

If your fairy tale wedding will be based on a fairy tale theme than you may be searching for the perfect wedding accessories and decorations.  Depending on the fairy tale of your choice, there are many items available for purchase, or of course, you can always choose to make (or have made) a custom item.

I was consulting a bride the other day who will create a fairy tale wedding theme for her big day.  She had many questions on how to coordinate accessories, decorations and favors to the theme without “overdoing it”.

Her dream fairy tale wedding theme would incorporate pieces of the Cinderella romance without relating to Disney’s version of the story and without having every wedding item scream Cinderella.  She fell in love with coach centerpieces created from silver metal that she had found, now she just needed help coordinating items such as cake tops, accessories and wedding favors.

When it comes to planning any theme wedding the answers to a few basic questions are often all you need.  Most brides know what they ultimately want.  What colors do you want?  What type of favors do you want to give – practical, whimsical, useful, elegant, etc.  Do you want a lavish cake and decorations?  Or something simple?

I suggested subtle ideas to my bride for her wedding, because she wanted a touch of fairy tale romance but not a full-fledged Cinderella themed event.
