Decorating the Unity Candle Table
If you’ve read the decorating tips on my blogs then you already know what a big fan of gossamer I am! Or perhaps you’ve used it yourself to decorate a special event. There’s a reason gossamer is so popular at proms and weddings – A little gossamer can go a long way in hiding imperfections. It can turn a drab town hall meeting room into a grand ball party room. If it can turn a high school gymnasium into an elegant night to never forget – imagine what it could do for your big day! From the church to the banquet hall as pew bows, in floral arrangements, cover tables and chairs, create swags and curtains, not to mention brilliant cake table decor! Braid gossamer to create walkways and beautiful blockades.
No matter the style of your wedding or unity candle, use gossamer to decorate the unity ceremony alter. Let it flow to the floor to soften the atmosphere. You can also arrange the gossamer on the floor around the alter. A word of caution however, do not use gossamer on or too close to your unity candle and be sure to lay the gossamer that it won’t affect the walkway. I really love the many colors, patterns, themes and widths available with gossamer. Turn old, brown church furniture into the look of elegant wedding bliss using white, ivory or shimmery gossamer with accents in your wedding colors. For a simple look, use thin width gossamer as a table runner, then add floral arrangements, flower petals or place a mirror under the pillar candle for a more dramatic effect. Make a bold statement by simply using patterned gossamer on top of a solid color. Drape gossamer from the ceiling and allow it to flow to the ground. Wrap it around columns for a very dramatic ceremony background or church entrance.

Coordinating Theme, Colors & Accessories

While planning our wedding, many of us may not consider our accessories as part of the wedding decor. Even though mix and match is doable, it should be within the scope of the wedding theme or style. I know I find myself overwhelmed by the many options of wedding accessories and I love so many styles! Everything from sassy and unique to sophisticated and elegant.
I began planning my wedding with the hopes of having a fairy tale wedding theme. I was very excited to find so many wedding accessories that were embroidered with “Happily Ever After…” such as ring bearer pillows and even unique wedding guest books. But I recently found myself in a pickle trying to coordinate everything. After contimplating my colors for awhile, it came down to ivory and gold or red and turquoise, based on the availability of coordinating items out there. Most of the wedding accessories that I like are white. I was lucky enough to see the ”Happily Ever After” Collection I was going to purchase at a bridal show and I noticed that the accessories are all embroidered with orange and silver thread. Right now, I’m really just happy I decided to give myself plenty of time to browse before the final wedding plans must be made!
Fairy Tale Wedding Cake Toppers – Cinderella Inspired
One of the most exciting things about the fairy tale themed wedding becoming more popular, is that there are now so many more options in cake tops, decorations and invitations then there ever was before!
Some of my all-time favorite fairy tale wedding cake toppers are Cinderella-inspired. For instance, prestigious horse-drawn carriages, romantic Prince Charming and Cinderella dancing figurines, majestic castle cake tops and even Cinderella’s glass slipper cake topper on a wedding cake in the shape of a stack of pillows. But I find this scroll-like replica of a coach carriage to be very elegant and unique. There are many ways to dress it up for a royal ball or simply add a candle for soft ambiance for an outdoor event.
Fairy Tale Wedding Ideas – Belle at Christmas

Becca, a recent Princess Bride, decided to incorporate her love for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast movie and her favorite holiday, Christmas, as her wedding theme. With traditional Christmas colors of red and green, she also included silver, castles and snowflake accents.
Fairy tale wedding ideasto take from Samantha include Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on her wedding invitations, castle bookmarks as her wedding favors and reception decor that included simple red rose centerpieces, snowflake place card holders and my favorite part, the unique silver castle candles inside glass containers pictured above.
These Decorations Take the Cake
Planning for a wedding can be a nerve-wracking endeavor for any bride-to-be. Once the wedding date has been set and the invitations sent out, the deadline isn’t going to budge. Selecting a dress, registering for presents, securing a venue and purchasing party favors can all be time consuming in their own right. It’s easy to forget about seemingly insignificant details – the finishing touches that are often left until the last minute.
While finding an appropriate wedding cake topper won’t be topping your to-do list anytime soon, the topic does deserve some consideration. Think about the wedding reception, when guests pour into the banquet hall and gaze with admiration at the layer cake. The topper is the first thing that draws their attention, and it should be somewhat unique. The traditional bride and groom figures smiling and holding hands in matrimony might not be enough; try seeking out something with more flair and pizzazz.
Simple, Inexpensive, Unique Wedding Favors
If you’re looking for a simple, piece together wedding favor that won’t blow your wedding favor budget but will still have your guests impressed, then consider fun shaped plastic containers. When purchased in bulk, these containers can be as low as 10 cents each!
If the shapes themselves don’t classify them as unique wedding favors, what you can fill them with does! Decorate these wine goblets, margerita or champagne glasses, plastic slippers, butterflies, bells or palm trees to coordinate with your theme. Purchase goodies in bulk such as Jordan Almonds, personalized M & M’s or valentine heart candies and use metallic cellophane, sparkling tulle or theme gossamer to wrap them in. Or if you prefer, a small votive candle inside covered by a wine glass lampshade will create an entirely more elegant look. For an extra special touch, attach wine charms to the stems as a take home momento. I gurantee your wedding guests will love them and they won’t cost you a small fortune!
Flower Girl Basket Fit for a Little Princess
Paying close attention to the smallest details of planning your wedding may or may not appeal to you. But if you’re like me, you like to reflect the creative, unique person that you are and a great way to do that is with your wedding accessories. Although right now, I am talking about sprucing up a wedding accessory that’s menat for the little princess of your big day!
Dressing up your flower girl basket to coordinate with any theme isn’t that difficult and it can be lots of fun! There are a large variety of charms in many shapes and styles. Craft supply stores carry them as well as many bridal shops or even thrift shops. You can use wine or cake charms, as well as old brooches or broken jewelry pieces. (The charms pictured here are in the shape of a horse drawn carriage. Ideal for a fairytale or Cinderella theme wedding.) All you need is a hot glue gun and some inspiration to turn a plain wedding accessory into a unique piece for your adorable little flower girl.
Wedding Decoration Ideas for the not-so-into-flowers Bride
If you’re not a huge fan of flowers or if you’re trying to save some moolah in the floral department of your wedding budget, then you’ll find some clever ideas here. Personally, I find candles and foliage more romantic then smelly roses (this may or may not be thanks to my many allergies!)
Some of these wedding decoration ideas will coordinate with any color or style theme, others may inspire you to find the theme for your special day! Small street lamp replicas or lanterns as table centerpieces will coordinate well with a garden, vineyard, vintage or victorian theme. A beach theme is a non-floral fun one – palm trees, adirondack chairs, beach balls, sand, sea shells and starfish. Bold colors and raffia instead of floral garland. Parasols and paper lanterns, anyone? A western or country outdoor theme with bales of hay, gingham checkered material, cowboy boots and hats and cactus plants. What about treasure chests for a pirate theme or a magic lamp for a fairy tale party? Garlands of ivy or grapes, branches and wicker or cherry blossoms make magnificent centerpieces or walkway adornment. Greenery such as bushes or fern will give lovely, non-obtrusive color to your event. Live plants in unique pottery would make nice conversation pieces. Balloon arrangements coordinate with nearly any theme and may be a nice alternative to flowers. Visit your local greenhouse or craft shop for ideas. The right statue or figurine could do wonders for your wedding decor. And don’t forget about the simplistic all time favorite – candles. Have an elegant centerpiece and create a romantic ambiance with the perfect lighting at the same time!
Wrapping Wedding Favors
Not that there’s anything wrong with prettily wrapping a handful of candy in tulle. After all, edible treats are the most delighted among guests! The idea here though is that the tulle doesn’t have to be plain old white with drab ribbon tied to the top. You can make a bold statement with your favor wrapping and your guests won’t even care what’s inside!
Aside from the fact that you can wrap nearly any type of wedding favors in tulle, and that there are now hundreds ofcolors to choose from, the best part is the available styles of tulle, gossamer, netting and wrap. From metallic shimmer cellophane to silk embroidered satin and lace. And the different ideas on tying it all together? Endless. There’s personalized ribbon, which puts your unique touch on the favor, sparkling bows and hundreds of shaped charms to tie to it. There’s ribbon that can be imprinted with a favorite quote or a saying that ties to your theme, such as “Happily Ever After” or “Today, I Marry My Friend”. (We won’t even mention the millions of artistic, personal or themed favor tags or shaped boxes available!)
