In the Spirit of Our Superbowl Saturday Wedding

Football-Cake-Top

My wedding will be on Saturday, the night before Superbowl Sunday this coming year.  Last year I attended a bridal show put on every year by our local radio station.  It’s always held on Superbowl Sunday and my fiance would rather die then miss the Superbowl. (No matter what teams are playing!)

So needless to say, I attended with my mother and girlfriend.  One of the wedding vendors there had the above pictured cake top on display at her booth.  At the time I found it humorous but didn’t think twice about the cake topper until we ended up having to move our wedding date.  Being the football fan that my man is and the ironic timing I decided this would be the perfect wedding cake top for us!

Cinderella-Theme-Decoration

If you are a princess bride-to-be planning a fairy tale wedding, then pictured here are two wedding decorating items by Lillian Rose that are just an adorable perfect fit!

What’s a Cinderella theme wedding without the enchanted carriage?  A carriage shaped card holder is not only useful but will present magnificently on your wedding gift table.  The carriage style candle holder can be paired with any standard size pillar and taper candles, but what a unique unity candle set when paired with Lillian Rose’s specially designed round fairy tale candle!

snowflake-wine-favorIf your wedding day is between December and February and you live in a state where it snows then it’s safe to say you’re having a winter wonderland wedding.  Your ideal wedding favors will depend on the style, colors or theme chosen for your big day.

One thing is for certain, if your wedding is coming up in the next three months, you’ll want to get your wedding favors ordered as soon as possible!  If you have a little more time than that, consider ordering a few favor samples.  You can spend hours browsing favors online, but until they are in your hands, you just can’t tell if they’re the perfect ones or not!  I suggest choosing two types of wedding favors and alternating them at your tables.  This way, you have a better chance of everyone going home happy.  Think, one favor a guy will like and one favor for a woman, or something specific for children (if you will have quite a few child guests). The snowflake wine bottle stopper pictured is befitting both women and men guests while this “Sweet Couple-ccino” mocha scented cappuccino candle wedding favor is a favorite among women.

WinterThemedGuestBook

With the holidays quickly approaching it’s easy to and almost impossible not to have to back-burner your wedding day plans.  Depending on when you’re big day is of course!  If you are having a winter wedding, a Christmas or Valentine’s day celebration then you may be interested in appropriately themed wedding accessories, such as this collection pictured for a winter wonderland wedding.

Of course themed wedding guest books don’t end with the holidays, there are flowers such as calla lilies, daisies or roses for a garden party, butterflies for a spring fling, Celtic styles for the Irish (or Irish at heart), beautiful faith embellishments for a spiritual wedding, happily ever after for the fairy tale themed wedding . . . the list goes on and on.  So whether you’ve chosen a specific theme or not, you’re sure to find a guest book and pen set that will fit the occasion.

All About Wedding Cake Tops

celtic-cake-topIs there a such thing as a “naked” wedding cake top?  Whether placing a fondent creation on the top of your wedding cake, a handful of the fresh flowers you’ve chosen for your wedding decor, or a carefully chosen figurine that reflects the newly-wed couple perfectly, there just has to be something up there, right?!

Not only do you have many options in type and style when it comes to wedding cake tops, but they each come with their price tag; from a free-find, to a priceless heirloom, to a custom made top costing hundreds of dollars. Like many other aspects of your wedding budget planning, you must decide what’s important to you and where you want to spend your money.  Your cake baker may or may not charge more to create a beautiful top for your cake. A figurine purchased at Walmart for the top of your cake may be 9.99, whereas a bridal shop or online wedding shop may have more tasteful options in a larger variety, ranging from 19.99 to 39.99  The better quality, niche themed wedding cake tops will cost more (between 39.99 and 75.00), while custom-made tops will range in price, up to hundreds of dollars.

snowflake-invitations‘Tis the season for winter weddings, be it around the Christmas holidays or a Valentine’s day delight! With these magical winter weddings comes the need for winter wedding invitations!

Personally, a snowflake design is my favorite type of winter wedding invitations.  I know they seem like an obvious choice, but I can’t help it.  Snowflakes are subtle, yet lovely reminders of life’s little wonders.  And if your wedding theme is winter or holiday related or not, snowflake design will compliment a traditional, vintage, modern or colorful theme!

Vera-Fantasy

If fantasy is the name of your game, or your wedding day bliss in this case, then this is the season to nail down a date! Fashionable gowns for the bride and all her girls (including Mom!) can stand out modeling fun, textured, shimmery and/or colorful options.  These fantasy gowns attract attention using color and unique style whether their sporting glitter, opaque fabric, ruffles, giant flowers or sequins!

It’s quite possible, there is no more fairer or whimsical a gown for a fairy tale wedding theme then those revealed in November’s issue of BRIDES magazine.  According to BRIDES, magical fashion is the theme for 2010 trends. These fantasy dresses are not only magical, but comparable in price to more “traditional” gowns as well.  With a gown in every style from modern to vintage, finding one to suit the princess bride-to-be won’t be difficult!

The Wedding’s Supporting Cast

basketWhile it’s no secret that the bride is the star of the show at any wedding, the ceremony just wouldn’t be the same without its supporting cast. The groom has a speaking part, but few people pay attention to his performance. The groom’s wardrobe is intentionally non-descript. The other members of the wedding procession bring a bit more variety to the festivities.

The ring bearer – typically a young male relative of the happy couple – is all done up in a tiny tuxedo and eager to hoist his pillow, presenting the rings to the bride and groom. Then there’s the flower girl, very young in her own right, who skips merrily down the aisle to sprinkle flowers in her wake. Flower girl baskets are just one of many accessories that make weddings special and complete.

Imagine a soft metallic silver to compliment the ice blue and white wedding colors.  Your bridesmaids and wedding accessories will be the definition of sleek and the groomsmen will look handsome and sharp in gray suits.  Your flower girl will compliment your chic choice of red and black wedding colors as she walks down the aisle in her red and black plaid dress toting a flower girl basket in iridescent black and silver…
